MATTHEW 18 (ESV)

 

15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ 30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”

 

REFLECTION

  • Jesus gave us a compelling reason to forgive one another by telling the story of a wicked servant (vv23-32).
  • This is a reminder for us when we harden our hearts toward a brother or sister after a few repeated hurts. After all, God, the great King, has forgiven us an absolutely unpayable debt, our sins.
  • Who do you find it hard to forgive? Think about the forgiveness you have received from the Lord.  Imagine yourself as the first servant.  Ask God for grace to forgive the other person.

改變形象

1 過了六天,耶穌帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的兄弟約翰暗暗地上了高山, 2 就在他們面前變了形象,臉面明亮如日頭,衣裳潔白如光。 3 忽然,有摩西、以利亞向他們顯現,同耶穌說話。 4 彼得對耶穌說:「主啊,我們在這裡真好!你若願意,我就在這裡搭三座棚:一座為你,一座為摩西,一座為以利亞。」 5 說話之間,忽然有一朵光明的雲彩遮蓋他們,且有聲音從雲彩裡出來說:「這是我的愛子,我所喜悅的,你們要聽他!」 6 門徒聽見,就俯伏在地,極其害怕。 7 耶穌進前來,摸他們說:「起來,不要害怕!」 8 他們舉目不見一人,只見耶穌在那裡。

 

以約翰譬以利亞

9 下山的時候,耶穌吩咐他們說:「人子還沒有從死裡復活,你們不要將所看見的告訴人。」 10 門徒問耶穌說:「文士為什麼說以利亞必須先來?」 11 耶穌回答說:「以利亞固然先來,並要復興萬事。 12 只是我告訴你們:以利亞已經來了,人卻不認識他,竟任意待他。人子也將要這樣受他們的害。」 13 門徒這才明白耶穌所說的是指著施洗的約翰。

 

默想:

  • 彼得、雅各,和約翰三個人在高山上親眼目睹了一件非常特殊的事件,他們俯伏在變相的耶穌面前。當他們抬頭時,「看見只有耶穌自己,沒有別的人」。這是何等奇妙的山頂經驗!在耶穌耀眼的亮光中,在燦爛的雲彩遮蓋中,在宣佈耶穌是神的愛子的聲音中,他們窺見了耶穌的榮耀。因此他們就全然地、深層地沉浸在敬拜的當中。
  • 回想你信主的歷程中,你是在什麼情況下承認「耶穌是超越一切,我應當聽從祂」?神怎樣向你宣佈:「這是我的愛子,我所喜悅的」?你當時有怎樣的回應?

 

禱告:

慈愛的天父,願你在我生活中為王,讓我不見一人,只見耶穌。請給我智慧和能力,讓我懂得祢的話語,明白祢的真道。讓我曉得在十字架的道路上,苦難和榮耀總是緊密相連、缺一不可的。讓我在苦難中能夠仰望祢、依靠祢。因為我知道世上有苦難,但是祢已經勝了世界。請保守我看顧我,讓我不論是在困境還是在逆境當中,都能夠榮耀祢的名。阿們!

MATTHEW 17 (ESV)

 

1After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.  4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”  5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”  6When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” 8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.  9As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”  10The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”  11Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

 

REFLECTION

  • Peter, James and John witnessed a special event on the mountaintop. They fell down before the transfigured Jesus and when they looked up “they saw no one except Jesus”.  In the brightness that blazed from Jesus, in the brilliant cloud that enveloped them, and in the voice announcing Jesus as God’s Son, they had a glimpse of Christ’s glory.  The disciples were deeply, completely, totally immersed in worship.
  • How did you ever come to realize that Jesus was the one above all others that you should listen to? How has God said to you, “This is my child, whom I love, with whom I am well pleased”?  What was your response?

預言受難復活降臨

21 從此,耶穌才指示門徒,他必須上耶路撒冷去,受長老、祭司長、文士許多的苦,並且被殺,第三日復活。 22 彼得就拉著他,勸他說:「主啊,萬不可如此!這事必不臨到你身上。」 23 耶穌轉過來,對彼得說:「撒旦,退我後邊去吧!你是絆我腳的,因為你不體貼神的意思,只體貼人的意思。」

 

當背起自己的十字架跟從主

24 於是,耶穌對門徒說:「若有人要跟從我,就當捨己,背起他的十字架來跟從我。 25 因為凡要救自己生命的,必喪掉生命;凡為我喪掉生命的,必得著生命。 26 人若賺得全世界,賠上自己的生命,有什麼益處呢?人還能拿什麼換生命呢? 27 人子要在他父的榮耀裡同著眾使者降臨,那時候他要照各人的行為報應各人。 28 我實在告訴你們:站在這裡的,有人在沒嘗死味以前,必看見人子降臨在他的國裡。」

 

默想:

  • 門徒與耶穌一起有一段時間,祂必須裝備門徒認識神的國度。門徒震驚於耶穌為要完成使命所需付上的代價,以及祂對門徒的要求。
  • 耶穌在16-19節稱讚彼得,但23節耶穌卻斥責他。彼得不欲耶穌死於十架,因此希望耶穌躲開。但耶穌嚴厲地斥責彼得,因他並非從神的角度來看這件事。
  • 我們身為主門徒的,都當學習以神的眼光來看自己的生命,並「背…十字架來跟從」。這並不是說,我們都要被釘十架;其實,大多時候,我們的十架並非代表受苦或死亡,乃是代表神對我們每個人的計劃與目的,我們需要學習耶穌一樣,發掘神的旨意,並將神的旨意實踐出來。
  • 我們可能以為遵行神的旨意,就會「喪掉生命」。其實,只有在每天生活中遵行神的旨意,我們才能「得到生命」,並且是更豐盛的生命。
  • 耶穌「得與失」的教導(25-26節),對你自己目前的生活優次,有什麼提醒?

主啊,求祢的旨意能在我的身上成就。我曉得祢是我生命中的至寶。我願意背起十字架來跟從祢。因為你說 “凡是想救自己生命的,必喪掉生命;但為我犧牲生命的,必得著生命。”當我悔改接受耶穌基督為救主和生命的主時,舊我已被釘死,我已經獲得了在耶穌基督裏的全新的生命。主啊,我願意忘記背後,努力面前,向著標桿直跑。阿們!

默想:

MATTHEW 16 (ESV)

 

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

 

REFLECTION

  • Now that the disciples have been with Jesus for a while, he must prepare them for the true nature of his kingdom. They are shocked at the cost of His mission and His requirements for discipleship.
  • Peter had just been commended by Jesus (vv16-19), is now rebuked by Him. Peter didn’t like the idea of Christ facing death by crucifixion so he urged Jesus to avoid it! Jesus angrily pushed him away for he lacked the perspective of God.
  • Every disciple must learn to look at his or her life from God’s perspective and “take up his cross and follow”. Most of the time, our cross doesn’t represent suffering or death, but it represents the plan and purpose of God for each of us.  We need to find and do God’s will just like Jesus did.
  • We may think that if we do the will of God, we will “lose our life”. However, the truth is that we will only “gain” our life and become what we most desire to be when we do the will of God each day.
  • From Jesus’ “gain and lose” teaching (vv25-26), what do you think of your current priorities?

禮上的汙穢

1 那時,有法利賽人和文士從耶路撒冷來見耶穌,說: 2 「你的門徒為什麼犯古人的遺傳呢?因為吃飯的時候,他們不洗手。」 3 耶穌回答說:「你們為什麼因著你們的遺傳,犯神的誡命呢? 4 神說:『當孝敬父母』,又說:『咒罵父母的,必治死他。』 5 你們倒說,無論何人對父母說:『我所當奉給你的已經做了供獻』, 6 他就可以不孝敬父母。這就是你們藉著遺傳,廢了神的誡命! 7 假冒為善的人哪!以賽亞指著你們說的預言是不錯的,他說: 8 『這百姓用嘴唇尊敬我,心卻遠離我。 9 他們將人的吩咐當做道理教導人,所以拜我也是枉然。』」

 

心裡的汙穢

10 耶穌就叫了眾人來,對他們說:「你們要聽,也要明白。 11 入口的不能汙穢人,出口的乃能汙穢人。」 12 當時,門徒進前來對他說:「法利賽人聽見這話不服,你知道嗎?」 13 耶穌回答說:「凡栽種的物,若不是我天父栽種的,必要拔出來。 14 任憑他們吧!他們是瞎眼領路的。若是瞎子領瞎子,兩個人都要掉在坑裡。」 15 彼得對耶穌說:「請將這比喻講給我們聽。」 16 耶穌說:「你們到如今還不明白嗎? 17 豈不知凡入口的,是運到肚子裡,又落在茅廁裡嗎? 18 唯獨出口的,是從心裡發出來的,這才汙穢人。 19 因為從心裡發出來的,有惡念、凶殺、姦淫、苟合、偷盜、妄證、謗讟。 20 這都是汙穢人的,至於不洗手吃飯,那卻不汙穢人。」

 

默想:

  • 從耶路撒冷來的代表向耶穌挑戰,說耶穌沒有教導祂的門徒在吃飯前“洗手”。這個洗手不是為乾淨的緣故,而是為禮儀上的潔淨。他們根據舊約的條例,認為“潔淨”是一種禮儀上的純淨,使得一個人可以接近、敬拜神。法利賽人與律法師將這些規條制定成許多管理禮儀純淨的法規,並將這些法規視為與聖經有同等的重要性。
  • 耶穌直接的攻擊這整個潔淨的觀念,祂教導門徒說,“進到口裡的不能使人污穢”;真正使人不能前來敬拜神的,乃是那些“從口裡出來的,才能使人污穢”。
  • 你是否也像法利賽人,專注外表的裝扮,卻忽略內在的潔淨;嚴守律法——各項規定守則,卻不看重對主的忠心,以及對聖靈的敏銳感?
  • 仔細讀耶穌在19節所列的各種罪,求至高聖潔神的光,照亮你的內心,讓你看見自己裡面的污穢、黑暗;求神赦免,並將內心洗滌乾凈。

 

禱告:

主,祢說過,“進到口裏的不能使人汙穢,只有從口裏出來的才能使人汙穢。主啊,求你復興我心中的聖潔,為我造清潔的心,使我重新有正直的靈。主啊,求你復興我心中的聖潔,將我分別為聖,作你尊貴榮耀的器皿。我已立志將身體獻上當作活祭,一生作你聖潔的器皿,一生要傳揚基督的聖名。阿們!

心里的污秽

10 耶稣就叫了众人来,对他们说:「你们要听,也要明白。 11 入口的不能污秽人,出口的乃能污秽人。」 12 当时,门徒进前来对他说:「法利赛人听见这话不服,你知道吗?」 13 耶稣回答说:「凡栽种的物,若不是我天父栽种的,必要拔出来。 14 任凭他们吧!他们是瞎眼领路的。若是瞎子领瞎子,两个人都要掉在坑里。」 15 彼得对耶稣说:「请将这比喻讲给我们听。」 16 耶稣说:「你们到如今还不明白吗? 17 岂不知凡入口的,是运到肚子里,又落在茅厕里吗? 18 唯独出口的,是从心里发出来的,这才污秽人。 19 因为从心里发出来的,有恶念、凶杀、奸淫、苟合、偷盗、妄证、谤讟。 20 这都是污秽人的,至於不洗手吃饭,那却不污秽人。」

 

默想:

  • 从耶路撒冷来的代表向耶稣挑战,说耶稣没有教导祂的门徒在吃饭前“洗手”。这个洗手不是为乾净的缘故,而是为礼仪上的洁净。他们根据旧约的条例,认为“洁净”是一种礼仪上的纯净,使得一个人可以接近、敬拜神。法利赛人与律法师将这些规条制定成许多管理礼仪纯净的法规,并将这些法规视为与圣经有同等的重要性。
  • 耶稣直接的攻击这整个洁净的观念,祂教导门徒说,“进到口里的不能使人污秽”;真正使人不能前来敬拜神的,乃是那些“从口里出来的,才能使人污秽”。
  • 你是否也像法利赛人,专注外表的装扮,却忽略内在的洁净;严守律法——各项规定守则,却不看重对主的忠心,以及对圣灵的敏锐感?
  • 仔细读耶稣在19节所列的各种罪,求至高圣洁神的光,照亮你的内心,让你看见自己里面的污秽、黑暗;求神赦免,并将内心洗涤乾净。

 

祷告:

主,祢说过,“进到口里的不能使人污秽,只有从口里出来的才能使人污秽。主啊,求你复兴我心中的圣洁,为我造清洁的心,使我重新有正直的灵。主啊,求你复兴我心中的圣洁,将我分别为圣,作你尊贵荣耀的器皿。我已立志将身体献上当作活祭,一生作你圣洁的器皿,一生要传扬基督的圣名。阿们!

MATTHEW 15 (ESV)

 

Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:

“‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

10 And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. 14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”15 But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.”16 And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? 18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

 

REFLECTION

  • The delegation from Jerusalem challenged Christ with not teaching His disciples to “wash their hands” before they ate. This washing was not hygienic, but a matter of ritual “cleanness”. In Old Testament religion, to be “clean” meant to be in a state of ritual purity that permitted a person to approach and worship God. The Pharisees and teachers of the Law had multiplied the rules governing ritual purity, and treated them as though their rules had the force of Scripture.
  • Jesus directly attacked this whole way of thinking when He taught that “what goes into a man’s mouth” (external) cannot make him unclean. What really disqualifies a person for worship are those things which “come out of the heart”.
  • Are you like the Pharisees, caring much about how you look on the outside, but neglect the purity on the inside; focusing on legalism/following the rules instead of being faithful to God and sensitive to the Holy Spirit?
  • Read through the sins listed in v19. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the filth and darkness there.  Ask God for forgiveness and cleansing of your heart.
